Online identity verification (본인인증) in Korea connects three verified records under your name:

  • Resident or Alien Registration Number (주민/외국인등록번호)
  • Korean mobile number under your own name
  • Financial or certificate account (bank app or authentication service)

You use these to log in or verify yourself across Korean systems such as Government24, Hometax, HiKorea, and banking apps. All major services use secure encrypted APIs managed by Korea’s Identity Verification providers and telecoms.

Mobile Certificate Methods

Private mobile certificates (민간인증서) are the most common and easiest method for identity verification in Korea. They are issued by major tech and financial companies and work for both public and private websites.
